Mr. Editor:

The Friends of the Half Moon Bay Library are very happy to announce that we are now able to receive used book donations from the community! We badly need your books “slowly” to increase our stocks, which have fallen dramatically during the COVID pandemic. For example, we have a very low supply of fiction books.

Our annual book sale normally takes place in November, but we had to cancel it due to COVID restrictions for the second year in a row. Selling is a major source of income for us, typically between $ 5,000 and $ 8,000. While we cannot run the annual sale, the books are now available for purchase at the library, both on our interior shelves and on the exterior book cart. Check them out – the prices are very reasonable! The income from these sales is a fraction of what we earn from our annual book sale, but still contributes to our ability to fund programs at the library. We were able to fund the adult library meal program from September 2020 to June 2021 and part of the library’s summer programming this year.

We know that many people declutter during the pandemic and probably have a lot of pounds to donate! Visit our website for more details on what we can accept, and please note that we currently do not take CDs or DVDs. You can drop off 1 to 2 boxes at the library reception. If you have more, please contact us by email to make arrangements.

Every book we sell will help us support the library and the community.
