LIVE MARKET: Sensex at new low for the day, down 400 points; Clever tests 17,500

On Monday, the company announced a 7% increase in its consolidated net profit to Rs 9,926 crore and consolidated revenue of Rs 50,591 crore in the quarter under review. It also announced its highest ever backlog and passed the revenue milestone of Rs 50,000 crore in a quarter.

Besides TCS, Maruti Suzuki (up 1.3%) and Kotak Bank were the only Sensex index winners. HDFC Life and SBI Life were additional Nifty50 winners.

Meanwhile, stocks exerting pressure on the benchmarks included Hindalco (down more than 4%), Tata Motors, Coal India, Grasim, Tata Steel, JSW Steel, BPCL, L&T and Wipro.

In broader markets, the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices fell 2% each.

Among sectors, all key indices were in the red. The Nifty Metal Index was the hardest hit, down more than 3%, followed by the Nifty Realty Index, down 2.8%.
